Interesting Authors
and how I find them
I’m often on the lookout for new and interesting authors however I don’t have a lot of time, or money, to spend reading uninspiring stories.
The most obvious source for good reading is word of mouth, and everybody will tell you about that so I won’t bother mentioning it here. Oops.
Another successful strategy I’ve used has been to find a collection of short stories within a genre that I enjoy. This gives me the chance to sample a number of authors in a short amount of time without really committing very much to any of them. If I hit on a stinker, and sometimes I do, I just flip forward to the next story and carry on. However I will generally find a few gems that are worth pursuing in earnest.
Take a few moments to visit your favourite section of your local book store and thumb through a few short story collections.
