My Initial Response To The Game
The first time my son played Fortnite I didn’t think he would play it very long.
At the time he was completely hooked on Call of Duty: Black Ops III with his buddies. At first glance Fortnite looked like simpler graphics and more basic gameplay. I figured it would be a few days or weeks then back to Call of Duty.
Nope, he never looked back.
Almost a year later he was very excited about the new Call of Duty: Black Ops IV. He ran out and bought it the first week and played it right away. The graphics looked amazing and the gameplay looked top notch to an old guy like me.
I think he played it 3 or 4 times. Not a great use of his cash.
He went right back to Fortnite and never missed a beat. It definitely has the magic combination.
Now there’s a lot of action with Apex Legends. It looks like a great game, no doubt about it. But I’m not placing any bets on my son’s behaviour just yet.
I’m horrible at this kind of game. My head can’t seem to wrap around where the action is happening and I almost always get destroyed by things that are invisible to me.
Old fashioned car racing games like Need for Speed and Forza are more my speed.
Do you, or your kids, have any favourite games right now? What game do you think will be the next big thing?
